Greg grew up with a pencil in one hand and a hammer in the other.  He was drawing floor plans for elaborate houses in his grade school years and interning under local architecture firms in middle school.  Nurturing a love of residential design and construction, he was framing houses, designing additions and erecting timber frames as summer jobs during high school and college.  He received a scholarship to study Architecture at Virginia Tech and while there worked for the University architects and a local residential contractor.  Following college, Battaglia Design was founded as a design-build practice with several employees focused on design and hands-on execution of everything that came off of the drawing board.  With a strong desire to return home, Greg came back to the Tidewater area in the mid-90's and joined Guernsey Tingle Architects in Williamsburg.  In 2004, he and his family moved back to his roots in Virginia Beach and re-established Battaglia Design.
